With the help of a little digital wizardry, the conservative Club for Growth is airing ads showing Republican Sens. Olympia J. Snowe (Maine) and George V. Voinovich (Ohio) in proximity to French flags in order to disparage their resistance to President Bush's tax-cut plans.

AMEN
I agree with the comment by J.L. Leon found in today's Cuba News newsletter that "There is no justification for the sort of sham proceedings described in connection with the execution of the men tried with hijackings. These are a fundamental violation of basic human rights and human norms of behavior-whether they happen in Cuba, the USA or elsewhere-and must be condemned."

In his latest big move in the 44-year-long chess match that is U.S.-Cuban relations, the comandante en jefe ordered the arrests of about 80 dissidents for, among other things, meeting with the top enemy's chief diplomat: the head of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, James Cason.
